In the new version of Nations the traditional auction house is replaced with a commodity exchange. It may seem confusing at first, but there are a few key concepts that are important to understand:

  • You're no longer directly buying resources from another player
  • Instead you're listing buy and sell orders that describe how much you are willing to buy/sell a certain amount of resources for
  • It means it's asynchronous trade:
    • Your orders are fulfilled over time as your price is matched by different players interacting with the market

For buy orders:

  • Competition is the highest price another player is willing to pay for the resource
  • Buy now is the lowest price another player is willing to sell the resource for

For sell orders:

  • Competition is the lowest price another player is willing to sell the resource for
  • Sell now is the highest price another player is willing to buy the resource for

Examples:

  • You want to sell 100 units of metal. You don't really need the money right away, so you're comfortable with listing the price per unit as higher than the current competition price, knowing that it will get filled some time down the line.
  • In another example you need 200 units of uranium right now, so you create a buy order with the price listed at the Buy now value. This guarantees that you get a batch of uranium asap, as there are players right now that are willing to sell for that value.

A more in depth guide is a reddit post that covers the Wildstar system it is heavily influenced by:

Still confused? Feel free to ask away in this thread.

The description may be a bit off, but the thread certainly still serves a purpose. There is still an auction house for cards, equipment, and recipes.

Why did he remove trade, I mean, honestly, why?

It was exploited.

Don't you thin that outright removing it was a horrible solution to a big problem?
